@znbctoday: Mansa Sugar to invest $100m Chembe project By Honester Mshoka Mansa Sugar Limited will invest US$100 million in a sugarcane plantation and processing plant in CHEMBE District, Luapula Province. The project will raise the company’s processing capacity from 1,900 tonnes of cane per day to 3,500 tonnes per day. This was disclosed when the Zambia Development Agency –ZDA- signed an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement –IPPA- with Zambia Sugar. Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lusaka, ZDA Director General ALBERT HALWAMPA said the agreement reflects Zambia’s commitment to providing a predictable, secure, and investor-friendly environment. Mr. HALWAMPA said the agreement also shows continued respect for investors and their role in national development. Mansa Sugar Board Chairperson MAHUL SHAH said the company currently employs about 3,000 workers and has continued to reinvest in its operations to support growth and expansion. Mr. SHAH said the company’s success and continued growth would not have been possible without the support of government institutions and key stakeholders. He said the company remains committed to contributing to Zambia’s economic development through increased investment, job creation, and sustainable agricultural and industrial production.
