Ramses Exhibition Among the highlights of Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold are the spectacular royal treasures from the tombs of Tanis. These objects belonged to Kings Psusennes I and Shoshenq II, rulers of Egypt’s Third Intermediate Period, whose burials rank among the richest ever discovered. The funerary equipment of Shoshenq II includes an extraordinary silver anthropoid coffin in the form of the falcon god Sokar. Because silver was rarer than gold in ancient Egypt, this masterpiece is one of the most remarkable royal coffins ever found. His burial also yielded a magnificent gold funerary mask, gold jewellery, pectorals, bracelets, gold sandals, and finely crafted silver canopic coffinettes. Equally impressive are the treasures of Psusennes I. His burial equipment contained exquisite gold jewellery, broad collars, pectorals, amulets, and royal regalia fashioned from gold, silver, lapis lazuli, and other precious materials. These masterpieces demonstrate the immense wealth of the Tanite kings and the exceptional skill of ancient Egyptian goldsmiths. Together, the treasures of Psusennes I and Shoshenq II form one of the most dazzling displays in the exhibition and provide a rare glimpse into the splendour of royal burials more than 3,000 years ago. #History #mystery #egypt #travels #paris
