But… the public reaction was honestly was disappointing. So many comments were filled with ignorance and misinformation. This is exactly why we need to keep advocating and educating. Type 1 diabetes is NOT caused by sugar, diet, or lifestyle.⁠ It’s an autoimmune disease — meaning the body attacks its own insulin-producing cells. It can happen to anyone, at any age.⁠ Type 1 diabetics also manage it by taking insulin, not Ozempic or pills.⁠ ⁠ Type 2 diabetes is a completely different condition. It often is caused by insulin resistance or reduced insulin production, and is managed differently.⁠ I hope this really incentivize you to keep advocating and educating people about type 1 diabetes and the difference between type 1 and type 2.
