Not my typical content but really wish someone can help me out here… I’ve moved to a new building back in August and I’ve started hearing “persistent and disruptive crackling” sounds throughout my apartment whenever there is significant wind. The building has stated that this originates from the water damper system and is a normal feature of a tall building’s design. However, as someone who has previously lived in even taller high-rise buildings that also utilize tuned water mass dampers, I can confidently say that this level of noise is not normal — nor is it something a resident should be expected to tolerate in a residential living space. Does anyone else also has the same experience? I know other units in my building have similar issues but apparently according to the building team my unit is sounding the worst. Also want to hear any advice as to what I can do …. I just started this lease and have a whole year left. #nycrentals #nycapartment #legalhelp #helpme
