Surah Ikhlas is named the Surah of Sincerity. And the word sincerity does not appear in it once. Ousama Alshurafa points to something in the Quran that most people have recited hundreds of times without ever noticing. The surah named for ikhlas contains no direct mention of ikhlas at all. No command to be sincere. No reminder about intention. Just four verses describing who Allah is. And that is precisely the point. Allah is One. Everyone is in need of Him and He is in need of no one. He was not born and does not give birth. And nothing is comparable to Him. When those four realities settle into the heart with genuine yaqeen, sincerity does not need to be commanded. It becomes the natural outcome. When you truly see that Allah is the One behind everything, that He is moving every single atom in the universe, that every apparent cause is just a veil and He is the reality behind all of it, then doing anything for anyone other than Him starts to feel not just wrong but almost absurd. Ikhlas is not achieved by trying harder to be sincere. It is achieved by seeing Allah more clearly. The surah was named for its effect, not its content. Recite it until what it describes becomes real to you.
