PT/Farooq Mohammed :
The Pelvis Drops: When you lift one leg, the opposite, weak Gluteus Medius cannot hold the pelvis up. As a result, the hip on the unsupported side noticeably drops toward the floor (labeled as Pelvis drop).
The Body Compensates: To keep from losing balance or tripping over their own foot, a person will often lean their entire upper torso over toward the supporting (weak) leg. This shifting of weight is the characteristic "waddling" or "limping" motion of a Trendelenburg gait.
