And sometimes the most angry people who fall for misinformation just want their voices heard. You might argue with some bots but maybe you’ll also reach someone who just wants to be heard and you can eventually get to them through trying to have normal dialogue

I see what she's getting at. Social media engagement is like a virus. While yes it can spread good things, facts and information, the bad stuff, lies and misinformation spread much quicker. Shitting that down would be the best option. Unfortunately, that isn't how it works and might actually end up making the situation worse.

Part of it is that we simply need to get better at messaging that the separatists but it’s hard to keep people’s attention when the competition for their attention doesn’t care about the truth. And for a lot of people they can’t believe the other side is lying until it’s too late. Honestly this wouldn’t even be an issue if things were better for working class people across the country. But our government has allowed this sort of nonsense to fester by prioritizing the wants of the few over the needs of the many.
