@3dprinting.canada: Reasons you actually need a re-spooler ⬇️ 1. Cardboard spools - stop dealing with warped, shredded mess and swap to clean reusable plastic 2. Broken spools - don’t waste filament just because the spool gave up 3. Tangles - save “ruined” filament and bring it back into a usable spool 4. Weird sizes - convert those 250g and odd spools into something your printer actually likes 5. Big spools - break down 3–5kg rolls into 1kg spools so they actually fit your setup

Here is the one I printed. Easy design and has saved many tangled or unrolled spools! https://makerworld.com/en/models/561571-cell-spool-winder?from=search#profileId-481024

One day I’ll pull the trigger on a small printer (I’m in a crowded apartment). But in the meantime I enjoy your videos.

omg tangled spools, I bought a 10 pack of kingroon PETG when I first got started, eight were tangled. I finally got to the last spool this week and just rewound it one by hand because I've been too lazy to print a tool. never again Kingroon, never again!

You talked about broken spools, but how does it spins on the re-spoiler if it supposed to roll on a rail?

I should make one so that when I connect one filament to another I can just wind it up in a neat manner instead of the crazy raccoon style windups I get by hand

Most of these are good reasons but the idea you would throw away a spool of filament because the spool broke is like one of those dumb infomercials. Absolutely absurd. 😅

Another benefit is if you have two printers and only one spool of filament, you can split it into two spools and use the same filament on both printers at once

My first refill, I didn't realize I had to twist it on so hard to hear the locking 'click.' The spool came apart inside the AMS. I printed a respooler to fix it. Saved a spool of brand new filament.

When you say to spool it twice do you mean spool it on the new spool then back to the old one and then back again?

See I have the flashforge ad5x. It uses a spring tension that holds onto the inside of the roll instead. So it doesn't matter the width of the roll nor what it's made of.
