Elle Woods explains that you cannot wash a fresh perm because water risks deactivating the active curling chemical, ammonium thioglycolate. Washing your hair too soon interrupts the chemical setting process. This causes the new curls to loosen or fall out entirely. 🤣

I tried a perm once. I went to sleep with curls and woke up with none. For reference my hair holds nothing. Once I had someone do my hair for photos and had two spraying hairspray 😂 it’s just super fine.

my grandmother had this issue. she moved from Wyoming to Maine and her hair never held a perm again. so many wasted appointment. her hair just did not like the new climate and she was stuck with it.

My hair never holds a perm. I go from tight curls to a slight wave within a month. I follow all the rules, not on any meds, it’s just my hair. I finally gave up about 25 years ago. Just destined to be jealous of those with curls!
