@filmenthusiast: 31 years since the original and Woody, Buzz and Jessie just had the biggest opening weekend in franchise history. Toy Story 5 opened to $160 million domestically and $312 million worldwide, the second biggest animated opening of all time behind Incredibles 2. It also earned a CinemaScore of A, which for a franchise that has been running since 1995 is pretty remarkable. Andrew Stanton directed. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack all return. Taylor Swift wrote an original song for the film. The plot follows the toys dealing with Bonnie becoming addicted to a smart tablet called Lilypad, which is genuinely the most 2026 thing a Toy Story film could be about. The trailer nods and references to the original 1995 film are all over this one if you look closely enough. An entire generation grew up with these characters. Now they're bringing their own kids to see them. That's not something many franchises ever get to do. Have you seen it yet? Thoughts?
