One thing to remember!! PLEASE. Medicare is NOT a government ‘benefit’. We pay INTO our own Medicare all our working days, and the US ‘returns’ it to us, monthly, at a pittance rate. It’s OUR money, they’ve held onto for 60 years, and with NO interest. 😳

Fun fact. Hospitals must treat you whether you have healthcare or not. Also, if you don’t pay your medical bills, they can’t sue you or go after your credit.

as a veteran, I avoid the va at all costs because I recieve better care at my private dr than the gvt run va. 6 months to get a therapist. 3 months to get a CT scan. my private Dr i got the scan immediately after leaving his office and contact with a therapist immediately. I prefer private over gvt.

Mine is all free now. Turned 65 so Medicare pays and my late husband was Vietnam combat veteran so I also recive Champ V.A. for anything that Medicare doesn't cover.

under the original ACA if you couldn't afford insurance you were fined $2500 when you went to file your taxes. once it became mandatory to have insurance, the prices went through the roof.

my family has tricare. it isnt free. only active duty military families get it for free. i am unsure if retired active duty gets it for free, but I do know retired reserves do not get it for free. so bc 9 million have tricare doesn't mean 9 million get it free like the others.

Another fun fact. One of the reasons hospital costs are so high for those with insurance is because we are paying the hospital for the walk-ins that have to be treated.

the united states also requires companies who employs more than 50 people to provide health insurance for atleast 95% of full time employees most people conveniently leave that out so all you have to do to get health insurance in the united states is get a full time job at a decent sized company

In Canada, do they have private insurance supplemental policies like we do here? We have Medicare supplements that help lower out of pocket costs that help seniors.
