Where I live my highway mainly I-95 is 55 but people want to go 70 as I'm in the right lane going the 55-60 and then I have someone tailgating me as I was doing the speeds I am suppose to

This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a “break in” period, but I’ve only ever had used cars. How many miles is this period?

To be fair, my 2000 Chevy S10 manual did say to drive no higher than 55mph for the first 500 miles.

RPMs is wrong, it's just RPM. Revolutions per Minute is plural by default

Older vehicle had a 3 speed so above 55 mph would be high rpm in grandpa's generation also some had chokes so warm ups as well. With that said New vehicle keep it below about 4k rpm and just wait until ur rpm drops after starting it about 30 seconds and u should be good.

55 for towing miles, according to my 2025 Ram 1500 manual. It specifically says not to go over 55 mph when towing for the first 500 miles of towing. Granted, towing this giant trailer (which was still well under 80% of my towing and payload capacity) I was kinda nervous to go over that anyway. First time I’ve towed something that big. Unfortunately it was only 86 miles so I’ve got another 411 to go. 😂

My dad had to back pedal the break in period thing when he noticed me shifting way under RPM on the first car I bought from a dealer. Because he told me about how he completely seized out his 1973 Camaro Z28 he rebuilt with his dad, but left out the part that with 50 miles on the brand new engine he went out drag racing it.

I've had a brand new car once basically. First 500 miles drive gently not aggressively, and you can still drive fairly regular speeds, but yeah, it's about the RPMs. I think I was told you don't want to go above 2500, and you don't want to get to 2500 very quick either

more about heat cycles than rpm. you can break a engine in in less than 50miles on a modern vehicle

those older cars were geared so going above 55 mph revs it up a lot more than modern cars now we have overdrive

Some manufacturer say you should do a max of 80kmh. Just read the ownersmanual to be sure what you should do to not void the warranty
