Mohee to Kpong, a vibrant @Dangme town in the Manya Krobo (Klo) Traditional Area and the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of Ghana’s Eastern Region. Dangme is the principal language spoken in Kpong, reflecting the town’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and identity as part of the wider Dangme-speaking communities of Ghana. Located along the majestic Volta River and approximately 75 kilometres northeast of Accra, Kpong serves as an important gateway between Ghana’s Eastern and Volta Corridors. 📍 Kpong is easily accessible via the Accra–Dodowa–Somanya–Kpong Highway and the Tema–Akosombo–Kpong Highway, making it a strategic link between the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Volta Regions. Kpong is famous across Ghana for its delicious Abolo and “One Man Thousand” Fish. Every day, travellers along the Tema–Akosombo Highway are welcomed by energetic hawkers carrying baskets of warm abolo, fried fish, snails, and spicy pepper sauce—making Kpong one of Ghana’s most beloved roadside food destinations. Abolo production, selling, and hawking are major sources of employment and income for many people in Kpong, contributing significantly to the local economy and supporting countless households in the community. Fishing on the Volta River and Kpong Headpond remains a major source of livelihood for many residents. The Kpong Wharf Fish Market serves as an important centre for the sale, processing, and distribution of fresh fish. Kpong is also home to the Kpong Water Treatment Plant, which supplies water to Greater Accra region, Eastern Region and surrounding communities. The town hosts Ensign Global University, a leading institution known for excellence in public health and leadership education. @ENSIGN GLOBAL UNIVERSITY With attractions such as Krobo Mountain, Mount Yogaga, the Volta River, and Kpong Beach, the town offers opportunities for eco-tourism, cultural exploration, recreation, and adventure. Kpong is known for its hardworking people, strong cultural identity, thriving local economy, and warm hospitality. Leadership The Manya Krobo (Klo) Traditional Area is led by HRM Nɛnɛ Sakite II, Paramount Chief of Manya Krobo.
