This is crazy 🤯 The Great Bell at Kaion-in Temple in Kyoto is one of Japan’s most historically significant temple bells, known for its size, craftsmanship, and cultural importance, cast in the 13th century, the bell is considered one of the “Three Great Bells of Japan.” It stands over 3 metres tall and weighs several tons, making it an impressive example of traditional Japanese metalwork. Temple bells like this are not rung with a clapper, instead, they are struck from the outside using a suspended wooden beam. Beyond its physical presence, the bell holds deep spiritual meaning. In Buddhist tradition, bells are rung to mark the passage of time, call monks to prayer, and symbolise the removal of worldly desires. The Kaion-in bell is especially famous for its New Year’s Eve ringing ceremony, where it is struck 108 times, representing the cleansing of 108 human desires according to Buddhist belief. 🎥: hirori030303
