Crossplane vs Terraform Explained With One Example! Terraform is an infrastructure as code tool. You write a config, run it, and Terraform creates your resource on AWS, then records what it built in a state file. It only does something when a human runs it, so if someone changes that resource by hand later, Terraform never knows. Crossplane works differently. It runs inside your Kubernetes cluster, so you declare what you want in a YAML file and apply it with kubectl. Crossplane creates the resource and then keeps checking, every minute or so, that the real thing still matches what you declared. Turn off a setting by hand and Crossplane puts it back.
