The music industry, eg:- mtv, has always used nu metal as a huge umbrella to blend lines separating genres like alt metal/rock, rap metal/rock. In addition to that, nu metal is quite the genre as it can be best described as a genre that takes heavy inspiration from alt metal, incorporating it with various genres like hip hop-rap metal-funk metal-industrial metal, so implying that soad is nu metal is quite the mistake of its own, and I definitely don’t blame the people for thinking so due to the music advertising industry, but soad’s sound is alternative metal that’s heavily inspired by avant-garde metal, and at times nu metal, eg:- their self titled album
