Smartphones: (1) Mean we can never escape it all. Like in the example of hiking, you’re going to bring your phone in case of emergency, but now you have the whole baggage of the world with you. (2) Have made people so busy and distracted by all the stuff that comes at them, so they have no time or energy for real life human interactions. (3) Are like crack. I haven’t found a single app or phone setting that keeps people completely off social media. I can’t even read a book anymore, because the reward of short videos is so much more attractive.
