The best thing the USMNT could have done was swallow the Balogun suspension and use it as the spur to prick their motivation and create a real “us against the world” mentality in the squad. Instead, it became the circus it became and the total opposite of this.

The USA is fast, and very fit. And thats it. They if anything, they are too fast. Watch all the best teams, what are they doing? They’re probing the opposition, trying to open up areas to pass and advance through, trying to build up pressure and waiting until something gives. —— Whats the US doing? Running their asses off and really, even outrunning each other. Nobody in the US team has the ability to see the play and predict where its going. All the best players ever have great foresight. —— The US doesnt have that. And one of the reasons the US doesnt have that is because none of the people in the country playing football for fun. Nobody is learning how to play the game. Nobody is getting a feel for how a squad moves like an organism, expanding and contracting, filling spaces, knowing where its players are. Instead, they are learning rules and drills.

you're so close. football cannot be won with "a star" it's a team of 11 players and you cannot rely on 1 person. Ronaldo never won a world cup. Neymar didn't either. the entire system needs to change, which it never will.

I don't think the problem is they don't have a star, it's that the baseline standard isn't high enough. Stars will come from that, there were a few players starting for the US last night who wouldn't make the Belgian squad.

USA had a really good motivation factor until the red card was postponed. ("our best forward ruled out", "we played with 10 men and still scored another goal" Hollywood would have loved that script. Instead it was like the old Soviet Union Awful for the players

USA need to invest more into youth football and reform their league of structure if genuinely want to grow their quality. they were okay, they weren't anything special, and you should be proud of their performance but no USA will just hate on their team instead so why would people want to put in effort if you will just tear them down if they are absolutely perfect and the best.

I think an issue the Americans have is that, you're talking about a star, when the rest of the world looks at teams. If a player can't play, regardless of who he is, the team should be strong enough to adapt, and still play at the same level, not pin it all on one fella.
