She has barely any screen time despite being the main love interest. That man Kishimoto was not interested in romance at all. She was definitely wasted, I think her and Neji relationship could’ve developed more. Hyuga clan in general tbh. Idk when it could’ve happened in the story though

While *some* people thinks a fc being in love or emotionally connected with a man is automatically bad writing or "she depends on a man", it's actually not but in Hinata's case its so true that she barely has individuality in her character outside of Naruto, much of her development and conflicts revolves around him

True, I love naruhina but kinda dislike that we barely have anything for hinata. The hyuga clan as a whole is a wasted potential and I just hope they do something about it with himawari.

Honestly Hinata was great in part one of Naruto, her growing as a character and standing up to Neji because she was inspired by Naruto was awesome. She really suffered in part 2 by having no screen time and like you said having her confession go no where after the pain fight. Her being reliant on Naruto would have been something fun to explore as it is admirable as much as it is a flaw. Her having introspection on it would have been fun, but then again it’s a battle manga 🤷♂️

I believe hinatas character arc is about finding confidence in yourself despite her constant failures (builds that parrellel with naruto) i disagree that she feels like an extension of naruto since naruto always had that confidence in himself in the chunin exams. I agree the confession wasnt expanded upon (romance in naruto is pretty mid for the most part tbh). When neji dies she helps naruto come back up because neji left her will with him. But overall naruto not reciprocating or acknowledging her confession was definitely a downside of her character
