You should have made them aware that they don’t own the airspace above their private land. Making them aware of that could have defused the situation without you bringing the drone down. If continued then tell them to call the police if they wish to continue the interaction.

It is not about creating confrontation or escalating situations. Good training shows. Poor training also shows.
