@optomworld: Interesting Pediatric Ophthalmology Case Today in the OPD, I examined a 12-year-old patient with congenital nystagmus, which became more pronounced on monocular occlusion (suggestive of manifest latent nystagmus), associated exotropia, moderate hypermetropia (+3.5 to +4.0 D), and BCVA of 6/24. On fundus examination, I observed a double-ring appearance of the optic disc, raising a strong suspicion of bilateral optic nerve hypoplasia rather than true papilledema. This case highlights the importance of carefully differentiating congenital optic nerve anomalies from optic disc swelling.
