@tiraofegypt: The Truth About Life Expectancy in Ancient Egypt ☥ Did people in Ancient Egypt really die in their 20s? Not exactly. The often quoted life expectancy of 19 to 25 years is heavily influenced by extremely high infant and child mortality. Many children never reached adulthood, which dramatically lowered the average. If someone survived childhood, their chances of living much longer increased significantly. Many men lived into their 30s and 40s, women often reached their 30s or 40s, and some, especially members of the elite, survived into their 50s, 60s, or even older. The average life expectancy tells us more about the dangers of early childhood than about how long most adults lived. #AncientEgypt #Egypt #History #AncientHistory #Archaeology #EgyptianHistory #Anthropology #HistoryFacts #AncientCivilizations
