@vivreenanglais: TURN looks like a simple verb, but it changes meaning completely depending on the word that follows it. In this post, you’ll practise five very common combinations: turn on = start a device, light or machine turn off = stop a device, light or machine turn up = increase the volume, heat or intensity turn down = reduce something or refuse an offer turn out = happen or develop in a particular way A useful thing to remember is that some of these phrasal verbs can be separated: * Turn on the light. * Turn the light on. * Turn it on. But when you use a pronoun such as it, them, him or her, the pronoun usually goes in the middle: ✅ Turn it off. ❌ Turn off it. Also pay attention to turn out. It is often followed by to be: * The film turned out to be excellent. * It turned out to be a misunderstanding. And turn down has two very common meanings: * reduce: Turn the music down. * refuse: She turned down the offer. Swipe through the post, complete the ten questions, calculate your score and comment your result. Which one is the hardest for you: turn up, turn down or turn out? Share this post with someone who is learning English and challenge them to beat your score. #LearnEnglish #PhrasalVerbs #englishchallenge
