High in the mountains of eastern Turkey lies a strange formation that has fascinated people for decades. It is known as the Durupınar formation—a roughly boat-shaped geological feature located near Mount Ararat, the region traditionally associated with the story of Noah’s Ark. From above, its outline can look eerily similar to the remains of an enormous ship buried beneath the earth. And that resemblance has fueled one extraordinary question: Could Noah’s Ark still be there? The biblical account says that after the floodwaters receded, the Ark came to rest upon the “mountains of Ararat.” Centuries later, explorers and researchers began searching this remote region for physical evidence. Some investigators have claimed that unusual underground features and soil samples around Durupınar could indicate something artificial beneath the surface. But mainstream archaeologists and geologists have not confirmed the formation as Noah’s Ark, and geological explanations exist for its unusual shape. Still, the sight of it remains unsettling. Because if the biblical story happened as described, somewhere beneath thousands of years of earth, rock, and sediment… the remains of one of history’s most famous lost vessels would still have to be somewhere. And for some believers and explorers, this lonely formation near Mount Ararat remains one of the most intriguing places to look. #fyp
