The tricky part about open water swimming: staring into the abyss. The race is a few days out, so I’m getting a few easy swims in with my wetsuit in the lake. The swimming feels good and smooth, but I’m still a little worried about the swim. I hadn’t really thought of this when prepping, but I’m kinda scared of swimming in the open water 😅 More specifically, having goggles on and having my eyes open when I’m staring down… staring into the abyss is kinda spooky… So my solution is simply to close my eyes and try to focus on my breathing count / what I’ll do at the transition… Not sure if that’s a smart idea, but it’s been working. I don’t really need to see what’s beneath me, all I need to see is what’s above water.
