I couldn’t have my first World Book Day as a No.1 Sunday Times bestseller and not talk about BIMBO. 📚😭💅🏼 Writing a book is one thing, but putting it out into the world is another. I was so scared about how it would be received. I couldn’t be happier that it has resonated with so many of you in the way I hoped. I really wanted the book to be an antidote to all the shit so many of us experience as women and girls. I wanted to unpick so many of the rules and labels we’re taught to accept as inevitable, and challenge the outdated expectations that hold us back. I want women and girls to stop accepting crumbs, to rise up and demand better - from men and boys, from politicians, from our judicial and justice systems, and from each other. I wrote this book because I kept thinking about the girl I used to be. The teenage girl trying to figure out who she was. The single woman wondering if she was “behind” in life. The new mum trying to find her confidence again in a world that suddenly felt full of judgement and labels. So many of us grow up slowly learning to shrink ourselves. To be quieter. Smaller. More agreeable. Less ambitious. Less “too much”. BIMBO is about unlearning that. It’s about the labels used to dismiss women at every stage of life - and how we reclaim our confidence, our voice and our space. Seeing it become a No.1 Sunday Times bestseller still feels surreal, and I’m so grateful to every single person who has read it, shared it, gifted it, or recommended it to a friend. It means so much. THANK YOU!! And if you haven’t read it yet… maybe this is your sign. And if you’ve read it and loved it, please leave a review or buy it for the woman in your life for Mother’s Day or International Women’s Day. 💖📚 PS I’ve been spending this world book week trying to support the independent book stores - if you go to the Book Bar or to West End Lane Books you’ll be able to find signed copies. 💖 The link to buy it online is in my bio! #feministauthor #feministbook #fyp
