Anytime I bring up the fact that I’m nearly double the size I normally am, people immediately suggest a GLP-1…..including my doctor. And come to find out, because of my PCOS and where my weight is right now, my insurance would actually cover one. And I’ll admit, it was intriguing enough that for a second I thought, maybe this is when I move away from breastfeeding and start focusing on getting my body back. But I just can’t. My personal belief has always been that for the first year after having a baby and honestly, even into the second..my body is still, in many ways, their body. This season is such a tiny fraction of their lives, and I’m willing to sacrifice parts of myself for a little longer if it means continuing to give them what I can. But here’s the part that’s harder for me to admit out loud: a lot of the weight I’ve gained has nothing to do with breastfeeding. It’s my habits. I’ve gotten comfortable. I haven’t been making the best choices. And as much as it kills me to say that publicly, I also know I can’t blame this entire season of my body on motherhood. So I’m starting a new journey….not to “get my body back,” but to start taking better care of the body I have right now, while still breastfeeding and without rushing this season to an end. And I’m embarrassingly putting it out here to hold myself accountable. #healthjourney #twinpregnancy
