A handful of giant corporations own a lot of the skincare you buy. This brand is still owned by the family of the two pharmacists who started it. In 1989, two pharmacists in Poland decided to make their own products. Their first one was wallpaper glue made from potatoes, and that didn't work out. It now makes around 1,200 products, and instead of hiring outside factories, it makes them in two factories it owns. As it grew, the offers came in. Their son, who is now vice president, says some were for amounts they had never imagined, from Polish and international companies. They turned them all down. Instead they are putting over 200 million złoty, roughly 50 million dollars, back into their own factories to grow their family-owned business.
