As a former 911 operator, your duties are to 1. Ascertain what sort of help is needed and get that help on the way. 2. Keep the caller calm so that, if necessary, they can render aid (age and situation variances here). 3. Gather as much into as you can while the caller is on the line (they often get disconnected). It's an often terrifying job, but when you help save someone it's a blessing in disguise.

I remember the story. She was a teacher at her school, suspended her because she got arrested for a vehicle or manslaughter for running him over then the charges were dropped because they needed more proof I guess and they ended up paying her for the time that she was off and I believe she ended up getting her job back as a teacher wants to her than either one call from her daughter that call literally saved her from going to prison for her whole life.
