When we first spotted this sweet girl, our hearts shattered. Blood seeped from her open wounds, and we knew we had to get her to safety fast. Found in an area infamous for animal cruelty, Takoda is lucky to be alive. With a myriad of wounds, some old, some new, some bite-like, and others not, we made the heartbreaking conclusion that this girl had been through not just one traumatic incident, but many. We believe she was likely mauled by other street dogs or predatory animals, as well as brutally beaten by heartless humans. At around 7–8 years old, it’s safe to assume she was dumped by previous owners who no longer saw her as worthy. Her ears are practically sliced in two, hanging onto her head by a thread. The rest of the wounds litter her body, stretching from near her eyes all the way down to her back paws. Though she is nervous, having suffered physical and emotional wounds, she still shows love and compassion to everyone she meets.
