A PSA if you use chemical tablets, they take longer in cool weather/cold water. I had a friend that got a clogged filter they couldn't unclog, so they used aquatabs in late fall and only waited the 30 minutes they say on the label and got giardia because of it.

Hi. I lived in China in the early 2000’s and their water was not potable. A friend of mine and I both got dysentery at the same time. In the hospital, they determined that it was because when my friend would boil water to make us tea, she was only boiling for 2 minutes. We were told in the hospital that the water must be boiled for 10 minutes before it was safe to consume. Having said all of that, this was twenty years ago and in a place where information was being translated to us (though the hospital/doctors/translator were all very qualified and professional), so at this point, I wouldn’t stake my life on it. But I did want to pass that on in case we did understand correctly and nothing has changed since then.

I love this. I’m interested in getting outside and hiking/camping but it’s all a little overwhelming and intimidating knowing what you need for supplies and this was so informative and easy and sustainable. Thank you so much.

Yall please remember to play EXTRA SAFE and boil the water after it’s been filtered! Yes it filters out 99.99% of bacteria but you do NOT want that 0.001% to be something life threatening! BOIL IT NO MATTER WHAT!!!
