🥣If I had to pick my recipe of the year, this Steakhouse Potato Soup would be it. It’s better than any steakhouse potato soup I’ve ever had, and you can make a big batch right at home in the slow cooker. 🥔 Ingredients • 5 lbs. russet potatoes, peeled and cubed • 1 lb. bacon, cooked and chopped • 1 sweet yellow onion, diced • 1 1/2 tsp. salt • 8 oz. cream cheese • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder • 4 cups chicken broth Wait to add: • 2 cups heavy cream • 1/4 cup flour • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper 👩‍🍳 Instructions • Cook the bacon until crispy. Drain, then chop into small pieces. • Add the potatoes, HALF of the bacon, onion, salt, cream cheese, garlic powder, and chicken broth to the slow cooker. • Cook on LOW for 6-7 hours, or until the potatoes are fork tender. • Whisk together the heavy cream and flour, then stir into the soup with the remaining bacon and black pepper. • Mash some of the potatoes with a potato masher to thicken the soup. • Turn the slow cooker to HIGH and cook for 10 more minutes.
