I saw Electric Callboy and while the show was awesome, the crowd was filled with college frat guys that had no pit etiquette.

on top of that, metal fans try their best so that no one gets hurt. my first time in a mosh pit i fell, and i dont even think i hit the ground before two people were picking me up. i will die on the hill that metal fans are the nicest, most considerate people

My only issue with surfers is wear flat shoes please. I went to a concert and almost got knocked tf out by someone’s big ass spiky boots that also almost took my damn eye out. Please be considerate of the people who are catching you/helping you surf. Nobody wants to get hurt.

this isnt just metal.. this is slowly happening to every genre bc people care more about their view than the person next to them

YES! Also Metal mosh pit participants are actually sooooo kind if someone ACTUALLY gets really hurt or falls down. They will stop the moshing and help people up, get them out of the pit, etc. Metal concert goers are the kindest and have the best concert etiquette of any show I’ve ever been to.

pit etiquette hasn't been a thing for min 10 years. crowd surfing is always a gig ruiner. general gig etiquette died during covid - a gig goer, basically a show a week for the past 20 years

Bad omens has literally stopped multiple shows to call people out for this. Ive seen sooo many videos of Noah lecturing the crowd that if they dont want to deal with moshers or crowd suffers, they should not be at barricade, they should be off to the side or further back in the crowd.

The views that non metal fans have of actual metal fans are insane. They act like they are so scary and violent because of our music choice and the way we dress. But honestly metal fans are always the nicest of people and take care of each other. It’s a community, you don’t need to know each other at an event to know you’re with your people and they’ve got your back. I’m a metal fan that is also a Taylor Swift fan, 100% people would not judge my character the same way for attending a ‘mainstream’ event vs attending a Slipknot concert even though I am the same person regardless of what music I am currently enjoying. Judging people is just gross and it needs to stop

Went to Download Festival this year and saw so many artists have to stop to get someone in the pit some help. Never seen this in person before in my 20+ years of attending metal gigs and festivals.
There were so many people there who didn't know the etiquette, didn't know what they were doing, they just wanted barricade and they were making that everyone else's problem. Ruined the atmosphere, ruined the sets and certainly ruined a lot of people's days.
I say this as someone who is not a pit lover, so I have always avoided the area around the barricade for every gig. I'm not strong enough to keep you safe, so I'll stand well back

Metalhead here, hi can we cross our legs when we crowd surf instead of flailing and kicking people in the head 😭

I’m one of those people who loves metal… but doesn’t like the pit or being near the front. I am really happy at the back or even if the option is there sitting! I’ll leave all the pit and barricade to those who like crowds!

Also people who crowd surf that don’t know what to do. You don’t just let it happen. You need core strength and ti keep your legs together

I used to work security for concerts and by far metal bands were the best. I have seen more bands/ artists stop the show and threaten to walk off stage if the crowd is not actively helping or making way for security/emts. the crowd is also the best to deal with.

Mosh pits in mainstream music never look fun. It just looks like people trying to find victims to assault. At least when I see videos of Mosh pots from Metal crowds you can tell there's a unity to it. I know which one I'd feel safer in

This is why I used to take my girls to warped tour starting at 11 and 12 years old. Now it was actually a hardcore emo band called Scary Kids Scaring Kids... but my ex-husband had taken the girls down front to see paramore right before this, and did not get them out of there in time. The crowd started shoving, and when everyone saw my girls standing there, they joined hands and made a circle around them, protecting them from getting hurt. At that point, they shoved them up and crowdsurfed them all the way to the front, where the security guards got them down and I met them at the side of the stage. There was never one moment that my girls were actually scared and if you asked them, it is one of their best memories ever. You also need to understand that this was 2007. I do not believe for 1 second we would have the same result today.

When I saw Ic3peak a few years ago there was a girl, full of tattoos and piercings mind you, who would start shoving people a little bit, so we naturally though she wanted to start a mosh, and then looked at us weird when we pushed back. The weirdest experience ever.

First metal show, wanted to see motionless in white. I had the BEST experience. I moshed, I helped crowd surfers, I became friends with so many girlies in the crowd and got SO many hugs and compliments. There was not one fight, no one drunk acting tough…it was amazing 10/10 best experience. My goal for the night was ti find sexy Patrick, and I got to hug him in the end! He was SO iconic! Loved it!

The people that go in the pit expecting not to be touched or hold up crowd surfers are a huge problem! That is what seats are for!
