#scaramouche / #wanderer i think colors by halsey fits scara bc, in the most literal sense, as his character development progressed, he did become ‘blue’ in his outfit/overall theme. however, on a deeper lvl, i wanted to portray his vulnerabilities& how him having the gnosis taken represented how his dreams of power were taken away, but eventually show how, despite how he claims not to be a hero, he does have his own growth/ redemprion in his own way without sacrificing who he is to his core. “everything is grey, his hair, his smoke” is self explanatory, then for “his dreams” i showed the gnosis but it also represents his overall yearning to have a heart, be accepted, and be powerful, bc, to him, thats the only way of having value. “hes so devoid of color he dont know what it means” - when hes defeated, his eyes even fade color in the og scene, but also i think this reflects how he completely lost his sense of self and misconstrued the meaning of having a purpose in life, and attached all his value into tje power he could possess, so without it, he has no semblance of self. i chose the scenes of the gnosis being taken (am was SOOO laggy while making this it was like the 168 cycles) anyway, on screen i put quotes, mainly derived from his character story or his teasers — “once more i am without a heart, my skin feels like it is on fire” conveys his feelings, followed by also his desperation “no wait please anything but the gnosis” - i think that line itself is very impactful bc it shows how despite his front of intimidation his layers were unraveled to reveal how deep down hes truly just broken, and hes never shown himself as ‘pathetic’ before so this moment was crucial bc it shows how ‘weak’ he was beneath everything. Despite claiming to be so mature, he ends up pbecoming almost sadly childish when he says “thats mine dont even try”, like trying to cling onto what he thinks belongs to him, which again reflects his shattering state of mind. i put the quotes “in that instant he beheld his own reflections, each 1 vivid, each 1 him” but this fits more w later scenes which ill get to. once it gets to ‘and hes blue,’ i tried to show how hes still cynical w his world view so he hasnt lost his personality (hence ‘each one him’ -even after chabge he still retains who he is). thats why i put the quote “the real him had never died it lived on deep within his heart.” i think hes a good rep of trauma & how u can maintain some core personality traits but your values/mindset can eventually shift for the better, so healing and having your personality are not mutually exclusive - i think its easy to get caught in the cycle of wanting to stay in your familair struggles, so it takes strength and power to escape those situations while maintaining yourself, and he achieves just that. now im showing where he sees his other versions of himself and thats where the reflection quote matches. his former selves and current self r not totally separate - they represent diff things, but they all arefragments of him. “Can you who have desires pf such intensity still be considered a being w/o a heart?” a recurring theme in his story is his ‘lack’ of a heart, but tbh, a heart can be figurative as well. hes shown thru his char that despite not physically having a heart, he can still exhibit behaviors that r like he does have one?even so, he is not defined by that alone. I also put his quote “you either give up or change” bc while you could argue its harsh, it is inspirational in a way bc its simple yet realistic. what i appreciate abt his character is that it symbolizes how theres not going to be some magical fairytale ending where some hero comes & saves you — you have to be the one to save yourself. tjis is not even in a hopeless way, this is in fact, more empowering as it shows that you who struggles are the same one who has the power to truly overcome it, whatever that may mean for you.
