so William Kidds crew forced him into piracy as they made him take an English merchant, if he didn't comply he would've lost his captaincy. Probably one of the worst pirates of the pre golden era. If he hadn't lied that he had buried treasure to forestall his execution, we wouldn't be remembered nearly as well.
