If you are a mum who is always making sure everyone else is okay before you even think about yourself, this is for you❤️ One of the biggest things I see as a GP and as a mum is not that mums do not care about their health, it is that everybody else comes first. Children, partners, parents, work, the house, the endless list of things that need done. Somewhere along the way, your own needs quietly move to the bottom of the pile. Appointments get delayed, screenings are put off, symptoms are brushed aside and exhaustion becomes normal. Many women are carrying broken sleep, stress, the mental load of family life and the constant background changes of hormones, yet still expecting themselves to function as if nothing is happening. Over time that can leave women feeling drained, overwhelmed and unlike themselves, and often by the time they finally come in for help they are already running on empty. So consider this your reminder today. If there is an appointment you have been meaning to book, a smear or mammogram you need to rearrange, a symptom you have been worrying about or simply a feeling that you are not coping as well as you once were, please do not keep putting yourself last. Your health is not a luxury and it is not something to squeeze in once everyone else is sorted. You matter, how you feel matters, and looking after yourself is the foundation of everything else you are holding together ❤️ #motherhood #maternalhealth #themotherload
