Being fluent in English, having money, or being highly educated doesn’t always change how people perceive you in CDMX. For many, skin color and Indigenous features still carry a lot of weight. Unfortunately, as in many parts of Latin America, classism and colorism remain deeply rooted. In some of the more affluent neighborhoods of CDMX, those attitudes can be especially noticeable.

Even if you’re light skin unless you come from a higher social class forget about dating there. I tried dating in Tijuana and I was too dark and poor I guess because my family comes from a rancho in Mexico originally 😂

I’ve lived in mexico and my family is from there not cdmx but why do people (mainly women) call it “classism “ but in the U.S it’s just called dating up/having standards lol? Women preferring men with more money or status happens everywhere all the time

i have never tried dating over there but as a brown girl, i have never had an issue with attracting people when i visit but i have been told that i don’t look "super" indigenous by other mexicans 😭😭 i think a lot of it might just because mexico, especially if you’re in the richer and whiter areas, has an issue with colorism, racism, and classism. it’s so sad honestly.
