@brianreallychicago: Fiesta del Sol is the largest Latino festival in the Midwest, significant for its roots in community activism, cultural celebration, and local empowerment. It began in 1974 as a grassroots protest and block party by the Pilsen Neighbors Community Council to successfully pressure the city to build Benito Juárez Community Academy. The Festival spans eight blocks in Pilsen along Cermak Road, drawing over 1.5 million visitors during its four-day run. It serves as a vibrant showcase for Mexican and Latino music, art, dance, and traditional foods.
