@cias.j: Prepare for a career with a degree in background in fundamental science, like biology or chemistry. Laboratory sciences are a great way to not only get your foot in the door, but also a great long-term career path in science #creatorsearchinsights #medicallabscientist #medicallaboratorytechnician #jobswithbiologydegree #labscientist
Glad I found my 6 figure job without any MLS/MLT cert but I got my bachelors in Biology. No other needed certifications for me, I work in a CAP/CLIA lab

I’m an MLS that just transitioned into clinical research and it was my lab background that helped me get into research!

If you are in the DFW region Quest in Lewisville has an MLS program that’s paid for by the job. You will need a stem degree or a certain amount of science credit hours. Applications open in November.

I’m enrolled back in school for MLT and I’m currently working as a specimen processor. I think I want to get my MLS afterward and get into Public Health eventually.

My issue with MLS that scares me from entering this field is the fact that MLS doesn’t have a lot of career progression. The job is hard stuck at 60-100k and getting into other industries is hard and rare

whewwwww you’ve got a follow out of me as a fellow MLS with 5 years of technical and administrative experience. i’m still learning about the different opportunities available, and just mindblown at how LONG it takes to get some of these skills/experiences down pat

My daughtwr has a few months left of MLS clinicals, then she'll take her board exam. She's excited but nervous. Do you think getting a doctorate is worth it?

I’m going back to get my MLT. I just applied to the oil company to be a chem tech. Had the interview. Waiting to hear something back. Some hospitals don’t like betting on you lol for just having a biology degree or chem degree , etc.

I am a CLS with my masters in laboratory science leadership & I advocate so hard for our profession!! I chose it because the dean of the college goes “what are you gonna do when you possibly don’t get into medical school”

Great message- glad you are doing the series. I started out in the lab; did a very unique path. I advocated for myself by saying I wanted to get experience in different industries. Tried pharm, medical, environmental, and automotive. Now with 10 years of laboratory experience I gained the skills necessary to become an environmental engineer. Some people don’t realize the skills it takes to get there so you really have to remind folks what all it took to get there. Some Young graduates now also don’t want to put the time in gaining the experience either. Two sided coin and means of understanding.
