Share this with a fellow hiker 👇 I was hosted by popfly and outdoor retailer last week where hundreds of emerging brands were gathered in one of the outdoor industries biggest annual events (sponsored as part of Wild Reach) I decided to ask them all one question: what’s the biggest hiking problem you are trying to solve? These were some of my favorite finds worth knowing about: Kopilot ID: Making emergency information accessible when you can’t communicate it yourself. This company is just 5 months old, and not just for mountain bikers. Dry Brew: Coffee designed around being outside and on the move. I’m not sure if the bigger benefit is preventing spillage or peeing less. Cool to meet John the founder, who like me, lives in the Bay Area. CleanTrek: Making it less gross to pick up the trash someone else left on the trail. Also great to support another California innovator trying to scale beyond Kickstarter. Holey Hiker Bidets: Backcountry hygiene without packing piles of toilet paper. The smallest piece of gear that every backpacker should consider carrying. Manshowr: Because your car shouldn’t have to smell like the 12 miles you just hiked. Big enough for an XL man, but great for any hiker. Dephy: Wearable robotics with the potential to help make hiking accessible to more people. Great potential for paved trails. Consider checking out the small brands investing in the hiking community. Today’s lesser known invention could become tomorrow’s piece of essential hiking gear. Let me know which is your favorite in the comments!
