The "Shower Paradox" is the perfect example of two major neurodivergent struggles colliding: Task Switching and Sensory Regulation. ADHD and AuDHD brains struggle massively with transitions. Breaking inertia to move from a "dry, clothed state" to a "wet, naked state" requires a huge spike of cognitive energy (Executive Function). When your brain is already burned out from masking or working, it simply doesn't have the battery power to initiate that transition. However, once you are in the shower, the warm water acts as a profound sensory regulator. It physically down-regulates your autonomic nervous system, pulling you out of fight-or-flight. Because you likely spend your entire day overstimulated, your brain registers the shower as the only safe place to decompress.
