On July 21, 2026, the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) announced that the Batavia Immigration Court in New York permanently closed at the close of business on July 24, 2026. ✅ According to EOIR, all pending matters previously assigned to the Batavia Immigration Court have been transferred to the Buffalo Immigration Court. ✅ Hearings for transferred cases will generally be conducted by Video Teleconference (VTC). ✅ Beginning July 27, 2026, all pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other filings for transferred cases must be filed with the Buffalo Immigration Court. ✅ EOIR recommends placing the notation “Attention – Former Batavia Immigration Court case” on the first page of every filing to help ensure the documents are routed correctly. ✅ The closure of the Batavia Immigration Court does not dismiss or terminate pending immigration cases. ✅ Instead, jurisdiction over those cases has simply been transferred to the Buffalo Immigration Court, and parties should continue to comply with all court deadlines and hearing notices unless they receive further instructions from EOIR. 📌 If you have a case that was pending before the Batavia Immigration Court, carefully review all future hearing notices and correspondence from EOIR. Future notices may reflect the Buffalo Immigration Court as the assigned court, and filing documents with the wrong court could delay processing. ‎****** ‎If you need help or guidance with any U.S. immigration matters, especially with these major changes, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
