Since I love both cosplays and edits. I'd say rant layouts do deserve recognition too. Putting together a ranting layout is both creative and productive. Even though cosplays that are handmade are harder to make, we shouldn't really think lowly of some ranters either, since the layouts do take time as well.

Well as a cosplayer myself I find this argument quite unnecessary. Cosplaying and ranting are completely different types of content so it makes no sense to compare them, as (like you said) cosplaying is a form of art and ranting is just short formed content. So it’s like saying: “yeah, those people who make relatable videos should not get as many likes and so on as they get” which is in my opinion completely ridiculous as most people probably liked one of these videos at least once. The same goes for ranting: they often make relatable content and we often engage with them. Meanwhile cosplay is more something like music: you make it with time, effort and passion for what you love. And yes, ranting takes a lot less effort but you really can’t compare it with something such as cosplay

Btw I take AT LEAST one hour for a single rant because I do a lot of research. And I post regularly if not daily. So in two months I have accumulated roughly 60 hours of work on my content. If a cosplayer takes that long for their cosplay why do they deserve more credit?

The thing is, you can't compare the effort and time between two completely different forms of expression. Like you can't really compare a painting and a song or a sculpture with a theater play. Both cosplay and ranting have different reasons for being made, since cosplay is (or at least it should be) about showing your love for a character and your creativity, while ranting is expressing opinions and creating conversation about topics that interest the creator. Obviously these will bring different kind of attention towards themselves and therefore shouldn't be compared or used as means to push down others.

cosplayers should just make their content more engaging like ranters do, because most of the time it's just lip syncing or dancing in a cosplay which isn't really engaging and won't bring much attention to a video, therefore causing it to flop or with zero attention

I do agree it is very unfair but why do we act like it‘s a new thing that videos that didn’t take much effort get often very viral, like it‘s been like this for YEARS. I still think it‘s super unfair but people can’t control how much attention they get
