I didn’t expect to be posting about itchy ears… but here we are. 👂😂 This is actually one of the perimenopausal symptoms I’ve noticed myself. It sounds tiny, but when your ears feel itchy, dry or irritated for no obvious reason, it can be really annoying. Hormonal changes, especially fluctuating and falling oestrogen, can affect the skin and mucous membranes—including the delicate skin inside the ear canal. Things that may help: ✅ Olive oil or almond oil may help moisturise the ear canal. ✅ If the skin around the ear is dry, a gentle moisturiser can help. ✅ Avoid sticking cotton buds into your ears. ✅ Try not to scratch—it can make the irritation worse. ✅ Avoid getting harsh shampoos or hair products into your ears. ✅ Get checked if you have pain, discharge, hearing changes, bleeding or persistent itching. And please… don’t put your child’s pencil ✏️ in your ear when the itch feels irresistible! 😅 Not safe, it can cause more irritation and inflammation—and your child probably won’t appreciate you borrowing their pencil for that purpose. 🙈 (Yes… guilty! I definitely regretted it afterwards.) Sometimes it’s hormones. But itchy ears can also be caused by eczema, dermatitis, infection or wax—and these may become more noticeable during perimenopause. Have you experienced itchy ears during this exciting phase of life? 🤩 If you’ve found something that helped, please share your tips in the comments—they might help another woman. 💗 Like ❤️ Save 📌 Share ✈️ and Follow @yourgynaehealth for more evidence-based women’s health information. #yourgynaehealth #perimenopause #menopause #itchyears #hormonalhealth
