On October 5, 2006, during the heavy argument at their shared apartment above the Omni Royal Orleans hotel garage, Bowen strangled Hall to death. Over the next several days, Bowen systematically dismembered Hall's body in their bathroom. In an exceptionally grim turn that gripped the media, he placed her head, hands, and feet into pots on the stove and baked her torso and limbs in the oven. Bowen stayed in the apartment with the remains for over a week, continuing to work his job, party, and spend thousands of dollars on drugs and alcohol… On October 17, 2006, Bowen walked to the rooftop bar of the Omni Royal Orleans hotel and jumped to his death. When police searched his body, they found a detailed, chilling self unaliving note slipped into his plastic wrapped wallet. The note explicitly detailed his crimes, directed police to the apartment on Rampart Street, and stated that he destroyed her body entirely out of an intentional desire to maximize his own sense of failure and damnation. “I k*lled her at 1 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5. I calmly strangled her. It was very quick.
