Tokyo is the capital and largest city of the Land of the Rising Sun: now it is home to 9 million people (or 13 million if you take into account the entire Tokyo agglomeration). By the way, this number exceeds the total number of residents of the three largest cities after Tokyo in the country: Yokohama, Osaka and Nagoya. In the 16th century, on the site of modern Tokyo, there was a small town of Edo, the main attraction of which was the castle. In the 18th century, the city turned into an important political center, and in the middle of the 19th century it was renamed Tokyo and made the capital of the state. The city was given a talking name, which means "eastern capital" in Japanese. The 20th century caused significant damage to Tokyo: many parts were badly damaged in the year of the Great Kanto Earthquake, as well as due to aerial bombing in 1945. Now Tokyo is the foremost center of the country, its political, economic and cultural heart. Tourists all as one admit: the city is very beautiful, modern and innovative. Here the commitment to traditions and the passion of the Japanese for everything new are harmoniously combined. Tokyo has absolutely everything you need for a comfortable life: a really convenient transport system that allows you to easily get to anywhere in the city, a large number of parks and green spaces, thanks to which Tokyo does not look like a stone jungle, a lot of interesting places for recreation and shopping - and that's not all. The number of cafes, restaurants, bars and nightclubs is just off the charts - it seems that life is not enough to get around them. By the way, Japanese cuisine is considered a cultural heritage of UNESCO, and the number of restaurants with Michelin stars is really impressive. Needless to say about Japanese culture, which is represented in Tokyo at almost every turn: anime, geisha, robots, kitty, outrageous fashion. And, of course, it is impossible not to mention the Tokyo skyscrapers, the construction of which was a risky venture in such an earthquake-prone territory. It is in the Japanese capital that the world's largest TV tower Tokyo Sky Tree is located, which is also the second tallest skyscraper after Dubai's Burj Khalifa. Other interesting places of the city are: Odaiba Island, Tsukiji Fish Market, Museums of Optical Illusions, Sumo, Ghibli, Fukagawa Edo, Edo-Tokyo and Nezu, Shinjuku-Gyoen Park, Oriental Garden, Imperial Palace, Shibuya, Mount Takao, Hamarikyu Gardens, Happoen and Koishikawa Korakuen, Kokugikan Stadium, Oedo Monogatari Hot Spring, Yakuoin and Sensoji Temples, Tokyo City Hall and much more. The city has enough sights to visit, but to get a better idea of Tokyo, you should definitely stroll through the most popular areas of the capital. Shinjuku is one of the busiest places in Tokyo. There are a huge number of shopping centers, cafes, restaurants, as well as offices. It is in these parts that the skyscraper district is located, as well as the Tokyo version of the red light district Kabuki-cho. In addition, not far from Shinjuku station you can find a small Korean quarter Shin-Okubo Korea-town. Asakusa is an area in which the spirit of old Japan hovers. It houses the ancient Senso-ji temple, Asakusa sanctuary, as well as the Kaminari-mon gate, which provides the quarter with an inexhaustible flow of tourists. Every year in Asakusa there are colorful festivals and fireworks shows. Marunouchi is a business quarter where the headquarters of the largest Japanese companies are concentrated. Once the most influential lords of the country settled in these places: this was facilitated by the favorable location of the district. Now there are various cafes and restaurants, as well as the Mitsubishi Museum and the Tokyo Forum. Ginza is perhaps the most expensive area of the city. Here you can find world-famous luxury boutiques, fashion galleries, shops for creative people, clubs, restaurants and much more. #usa#eurasia#africa#communism#alt
