She was forced to have the device removed because it was a safety hazard. Not because of greed. When The company shut down, the Australian government required her to have the implant removed. The reason for this is because without the company, not only was the device completely useless, but there were no more engineers who would maintain the device. . This means that eventually it would corrode or malfunction and could cause serious irreversible brain damage to her. The Australian government with its strict medical laws would not allow her to take on this risk even if she wanted to. . So if anything, this should be positive news, as it shows that at least there is a government out there that cares enough about its citizens to not watch them hurt themselves needlessly. It is a shame that she lost access to such revolutionary medical technology, but unfortunately there was nothing that could be done. The company went out of business.

It’s genuinely so messed up how such important trials and science get no funding. I’m guessing they had to remove them because they had a ‘life’ and the company knew they wouldn’t be able to keep working on it or fixing so better to remove it early?

I think everyones missing the problem if she did keep it, if there were any problems to arise she wouldnt be able to get help to fix it, including basing on surface level research the implant might be connected to a server that costs money to keep running. The true fault here was how such a miracle device didnt get funding???
