![Handling “intrusive” questions at work👇 We all have different limits on what we feel comfortable sharing, and just because someone is curious doesn’t mean we owe them personal information. Questions like “Do you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend?” might seem friendly to some, but for others they can feel intrusive or inappropriate, especially in a work context. If someone oversteps your boundaries, you don’t have to answer. You can respond calmly and respectfully, then redirect the conversation. You might say: “Thanks for showing an interest, I prefer to keep personal things private.” “I’d love to talk about [X topic] though, shall we talk about that?” This keeps the tone kind but firm, and helps you maintain control of the conversation.
