My mom told me she hoped my son treats me as horribly as I did her. She also repeatedly threatened to call the police for me going no contact with her. She died in 2020, and I still have unopened voicemails of her threatening me (I listened to the first few). I can’t bring myself to delete them, and I’m equally scared to listen to them.

I’m planning my wedding and it’s literally a nightmare. Everything I say I’m doing or I want, she counters with something I should do instead and says “well I just want it to be nice” or “I’m just trying to help.” Big things too, like the date of my wedding that I just put a deposit down for!!! “Well I can call the venue and change it for you if you want me to”

You got any tips for repairing the damage of swinging too far in the opposite direction with our own GenZ kids? I went so hard against the “I put a roof over your head and food on the table and this is the thanks I get!” that I fear my kid now just kinda expects everything as standard and doesn’t actually appreciate anything, which is also not good. Maybe by the generation after alpha we’ll have found an equilibrium 🥴

I was in a homeless shelter and her(77) and my dad(70) questioned me about how I ended up there and said that my life choices were very poor and THEY chose to disown ME. Mind you I’m 22 and have been soloing since they moved me out at 18. I only called to ask to stay with them till I could get back on my feet.
