Sacrifice, compromise, and consideration are necessary for any healthy relationship. Therefore, any content suggesting you do the contrary in your relationship (whether it be a friendship, with your family, or romantic partner), is not encouraging a healthy minded relationship, they are rather teaching you how to become selfish people who only consider your own feelings, wants, and desires. This is much different from what I encourage of prioritizing your needs over those that take advantage of you. It’s much different than encouraging people not to compromise their self worth and value. These selfish traits you’re learning will bleed into your other relationships. If you are at this point where you’re consuming this sort of content, walk away. Leave that man! See how easy that is for me to say since I’m not exploiting your pain and hurt? The idea of “decentering” your spouse in your marriage, the only other person in your marriage, is ridiculous.
